A classical guitar, also known as a Spanish guitar, is a string instrument that belongs to the chordophone family of musical instruments. Originally made for playing classical music, it is now used for playing folk, country, pop, blues, and even light rock music.
A classical guitar has a hollow body made of solid wood such as mahogany and rosewood. It has six strings extending from the top of the neck to one end of the soundbox. The top of the soundbox is made of solid or laminated wood. At the center of the soundbox is a hole where the vibrating air caused by the strummed or plucked strings comes out as audible sound.

Choosing Classical Guitars (Buying Tips)
Size: Choose a classical guitar sized according to your age and body built. Choose a full-size classical guitar for adults and teenagers. Look for a smaller model for children. To determine the proper guitar size for you, hold the instrument while in a sitting position. You must be able to place your right arm over the body and still reach the strings comfortably with your left hand.
Durability: For durability, choose a classical guitar with a top made of solid wood over one with a laminated top.
