DVD-RW Media : What is it?
DVD-Rewritable (DVD-RW) media are optical discs that can be written and rewritten with data up to 1,000 times. They usually have a storage capacity of 4.7 GB for recording large multimedia files such as movies, songs, and pictures. They are available in different speeds to suit the different writing speeds of DVD burners. They usually have lower compatibility than DVD-R and DVD+R media, because they are physically thicker and configured differently from standalone DVD players. |

Kinds of DVD-RW Medias include the following:
1X DVD-RW discs 1X DVD-RW discs cannot support burning speeds higher than 1x. They burn relatively slower than other discs, but are usually more accurate. 2X DVD-RW discs 2X DVD-RW discs can support burning speeds from 1x to 2x. 4X DVD-RW discs 4X DVD-RW discs can support a burning speed of 2x to 4x, but not 1X and 6X. 6X DVD-RW discs 6X DVD-RW can support burning speed of 2X, 4X, and 6X. They burn faster than other disc types, but are more prone to errors, particularly when burning multimedia files. They are ideal for mass reproduction of data and files on DVD. |

Compatibility: Choose DVD-RW media compatible with your DVD writer in terms of speed. The optimal burning speed is usually slightly lower than that of the writer. Pack sizes: Look for DVD-RW media that comes in different pack sixes (3s, 10s, 25s, 50s, 100s) to save on costs. This is useful if you want to burn DVDs in bulk for distribution. |
